A Cross-section of a Present-moment Experience

I created an “experience strata” and a systems-sensing exploration of each layer as a way to be with and move through a moment of intensity.  It also became an excuse to play with the metaphor of a geological map for how I often experience these inward journeys.

Expressing via painting and “right-brained writing” as a way of being with my experience. April 2022

Systems sensing of the strata layers of the present moment experience with the question “What is there to know now?”

PAIN

I am here as an indicator

not to stop you or shut you down but to show you where your gifts lie.

Take this rope line down.

Travel deeper with me.

STUCK EMOTION

I am between what you care about and it being expressed in the world.

Dance with me. I need to move and play.

I want to be felt and experienced.

And I will loosen and clear.

CARE AND COMMITMENT

I am like connective tissue

helping to activate and revitalize parts that have become separate.

I am an invisible web woven by threads of diversity,

allowing inspiration and beauty in the midst of crisis and despair.

I am what fosters and facilitates resilience.

Call upon me daily.

RESOURCE

Stay in contact with your current experience and curiosity.

Note any questions that arise, following them like threads.

Together we build an interface or a receptor site to digest new information and recover other ways of knowing and being.

GIFT

I am a gem that lies underneath.

You arrive and return here as you honor the layers of experience before.

I am rough and unpolished

yet ready to welcome your care and craftsmanship.

Refining will not feel like work to do.

Rather, your effort and attention here will be enlivening.

When you shine so do I.

This was written in April 2022 at a time when I was experiencing painful headaches and not being able to concentrate on my work. Painting and drawing away from the computer became a refuge for me at that time, so I shifted my attention here using my present experience as my guide. My pain lifted and I felt a lot better after this exercise.
